Kucinich Releases Delegates
Darrell
tried to get a pic of Dennis Kucinich to post with this article.
As a matter of fact, the two of them had their picture taken together,
Kucinich posing with his arm around Darrell . . . but the guy handling
the camera for Darrell had his thumb over the lens! Nevertheless,
Dennis said to “wish everyone well.” Thanks, Dennis!

Congressman
Dennis Kucinich, the only Democratic Presidential candidate besides
Sen. John Kerry who campaigned through every primary and caucus in the
nation, yesterday released his delegates “to vote your conscience”
during Wednesday night's roll call vote at the Democratic National
Convention.
Kucinich,
who formally endorsed Kerry last week, met with his delegates and
alternates Sunday and again yesterday and heard strong, even passionate
expressions of continued support for him and his issues. Without
exception, they said they wanted to cast their ballots for him, even
though he has already thrown his support to Kerry.
“I
listened to your words,” Kucinich told his delegates, “and I listened
to your hearts as well. I'm releasing you to vote your conscience. You
will be the ones making your own decision.”

Personally, I hope the Kucinich
delegates vote for Dennis in the first round since it looks like the
Dean delegates won't be voting for Howard at all. Enough of this
enforced pseudo-unity. Since when does party unity mean you have
to wipe out all memory of every other candidate and his or her
contribution?
Linda………I do appreciate your point and if I were in fact a pledged Dean delegate, rather then a Dean/Kerry delegate I might do just that…..but at this point I feel it is right that I should vote for Kerry out of respect for the Kerry delegation (many who are good friends and democrats) who did allow us to send one of our own to the convention. I do recall that the Edwards group at our district convention refused to make a similar committment.

I have talked to several Kucinich delegates and all to whom I have spoken will be casting their votes for him.
And I am making “Thank You Howard” stickers that I hope the entire Iowa delegation will wear tonight when Dean speaks.

Hi, Darrell!
In no way did I mean for that comment to appear as a criticism of you. You are very right – I personally know of 8 Dean supporters in the Iowa delegation, and only 2 are actually pledged to Dean. I agree with you – there is a difference.
Still, it will be very gratifying when the Kucitizens cast their votes for Dennis! The progressive voice will not be stifled!
You are doing a FABULOUS job for us! Go get 'em!
Your biggest fan,
Linda
