Jim Hightower Speaks Frankly

The Capital Times, Madison, Wisconsin

Texas son, Jim Hightower, is currently on a book tour promoting his new book, “Let's Stop Beating Around the Bush.”

While at a speaking engagement in Madison, Wisconsin, Hightower let a few zingers fly.

“The Bushites are so nasty, it makes me nostalgic for Nixon,” Hightower said.

“I'll go
further,” offered Hightower. “It makes me nostalgic for Reagan. At
least then we said, 'It can't get any worse than this.' Well, here we
are.”

“But the real issue isn't jobs — slaves had jobs,” he said.

“It's not jobs we need, it's income,” Hightower said.

“It's not enough to be pro-gressive, we've got to be a-ggressive!”

About Kerry, he said, “I don't care if he's a sack of cement, we are going to carry him to victory in November.”

Jim Hightower has always been one of the people I've admired. He was a heck of a Texas Agricultural Commissioner and still is a heck of a good guy. I remember his trademark phrase “the only thing in the middle of the road are yellow lines and dead armadillos”. I still believe that, because if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything……
I agree with you Mark… can we vote now??
