Populist Joyce Schulte Wins
5th District Dem Primary
With
an impressive 51.4% of the vote in a three-person race, Democrat Joyce Schulte of Creston has
won the right to run against that shameful, party-line-voting neo-con
Steve King, congressman from Iowa's 5th District.
Schulte now has the chance to be the first woman from Iowa to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.
There
are 32 counties in the 5th Congressional District, and of the 16
counties in northwest Iowa, Schulte won all but two. Gene
Blanshan, who received 32.6% of the total vote, won the other
two. (Sal Mohamed of Sioux City won 16% of the total vote.)
Schulte,
who is a long-time Democratic Party activist with ties to the state
central committee, played up the angle that it is time to send an Iowa
woman to Congress.
She's right. It is!

OK, its time to elect a woman to Congress from Iowa……so staying on topic here's a joke some of you will enjoy
In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill.
Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber.
“I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news,” he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
“The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope.
Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves”
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, “Well, how much does a brain cost?”
The doctor quickly responded, “$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain.”
The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked.
A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask,
“Why is the male brain so much more?”
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, “It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used.”

As it will be a indicative test for America if Bush is re-elected, so it is similar in western Iowa with King (Son of Bush?). If either happens, I feel I may have lost touch and faith in the electorate. If either happens, I won't be as proud to be an American. I won't want to be cast throughout the world as being that short-sighted or limited in thought.
It is past time to restore some real energy, morals and intelligence in our government.

Thank you for your compliments, along with your hopes.
I am excited to be talking about issues that impact every single family in Iowa, and especially the families in the great 5th District.
The voters spoke clearly. The vote was substantial. And the work in this second phase of the campaign will be vigorous. I have been all over the district during the primary. It will be the same during the general election period. And I look forward to meeting even more people.
Again, thank you , and stay tuned! ejhs

Greetings to you, and thank you for your concerns.
I certainly share some concern. I know the Vision statement of this country is about people, not 'of the wealthy, by the wealthy, for the wealthy'. And the Vision of this country is not to build only the biggest corporations. But that seems to have been the vision of the majority of the most recent tax benefits, and where our national treasury was sent.
No one group or person has a corner on the market of being the owner of moral knowledge. Most of the people I meet in western Iowa are filled with moral thoughts and hopes. Most people I know are very inclusive and tolerant of others. And I have said for years that Iowans are very intelligent!!
I thank you for the compliment that we can begin redirecting our government after my election Nov. 2nd. I look forward to that work!
Gracias, Danke, Merci, and Thank You!
