Gay Pride Festival in Iowa City: Call For Volunteers

Gay Pride Festival in Iowa City:
Call For Volunteers

This Saturday, June 12, is the Gay Pride Festival in Iowa City.  I
am table captain for the DNC/Kerry booth and also have a second booth
adjacent to it for my own use at the Pride Festival.  The Festival
will be at College Green Park, Iowa City, from noon till 4 p.m.
It is anticipated there will be 1,000 to 1,500 persons attending.

DFIA is coordinating distribution of literature at Iowa City Pride for candidates it supports, including Dave Franker, Democratic candidate for Iowa's 2nd Congressional District.  We will also be distributing DFIA stickers and Blog for Iowa stickers there.

The
Democratic National Committee and the Kerry Campaign are paying for
their booth and materials for Iowa City Pride. Let's show the DNC that
DFIA is a team player and provide the volunteers needed for a
successful event.  The DNC is participating in 62 Prides
nationwide this month and reports from last weekend are proving that
the GLBT community is politically motivated unlike any time in the
past.  I assisted at Kansas City Pride last weekend and was
overwhelmed by the urgency in the GLBT community to bring about
political change.

If you can volunteer to help at the booth or pass out materials, please contact me at DLewis001@aol.com.  And btw, there is no need to be gay to attend this fun event and to help elect progressive Democrats.
