Iowa's District 5 Congressional Primary – Know Thy Candidates

With the Iowa Democratic Primary coming up next week on Tuesday, June 8th,
I thought it might be helpful for us 6 or 7 registered Democrats in
Congressional District 5 to know a little something about who is trying
to take on that shameful, party-line-voting neo-con Steve King (R-5th).

There are 3 candidates on the primary ballot:

Joyce Schulte of  Creston, populist, education services worker, and Vilsack appointee to the Agricultural Development Authority Board.

Sal Mohamed of Sioux City, engineer and naturalized U.S. citizen from Egypt.

Gene Blanshan of Panora, farmer, former history teacher, and former 5-term Iowa State Representative.

Word on the street has it that the race is competitve, with Schulte and Blanshan in contention.
