DFA/DFIA Meet Up is Tomorrow!
(and Rapid Response)

It seems
like only yesterday I was listening to the Governor answering questions
at the last Meet Up. DFA Meet Ups are incredible because they are about
neighbors and strangers coming together for the betterment of their
country. The action items at Meet Ups have had an incredible impact on
American politics and this month will be no different. The agenda for
tomorrow includes:
* Planning for your Candidate Forum at the July Meet Up
* Planning how to spread the Count Every Vote Petition in your area
* June 19th Bridge the Health Care Gap events
* Brainstorm 5 ways to take your country back this summer
* Local action items
Make sure that you are signed up to attend your local Meet Up.

came in from Liz Herbert of Rapid Response Network (do we REALLY have
to take the name “Dean” out of everything we do?).
Liz, who lives in Florida, has had no little success with her own Rapid Response group in Florida.
As Liz writes:
A
well-functioning state group is like a GOLD MINE for the state – we
used ours in Florida to get legislation defeated that was an end-around
on the effort to mandate paper ballots. But we can't really
support 50 states from outside the state, so we're doing our best to
build each effort inside.

Liz has asked the DFA State Groups to spread the word about Rapid Response at our Meet Ups tomorrow.
Rapid
Response Network, a 1,500 member national network of citizens,
dedicated to insuring the political dialog that takes place in the
media is fair and accurate, is ALIVE & WELL (Rapid Response – Iowa).
We are
turning our attention now to insuring that strong state groups are in
place across the country to respond to inaccuracies in local papers
leading up to November. Some state groups are vital and busy, and
may only need more assistance with writing action items, or
researching. Others lack a state coordinator and haven't grown as they
might.
Please
sign up for your state's Rapid Response Team and take a look at where
it is. This is an effort made strong by many small contributions
– consider how you might help. A strong state team can insure factual
corrections are made across the publications in your state, both in the
national races and in supporting local candidates, including – notably
– the ones endorsed by your groups and by DFA.
