Wayne Sawtelle for State Senate (Marshalltown)

Wayne Sawtelle for State Senate (Marshalltown – District 22)

The
Democratic candidate for State Senate from Marshall and Hardin
counties, Mr. Wayne Sawtelle, comes highly recommended from one who
knows him well:  DFIA Founding Member Kim Smith of Marshalltown.

According
to Kim, Wayne Sawtelle “has served on our local school board for 8 yrs.
There was a faction of our community that was trying to push our
schools towards segregation…. separate elementary schools and middle
school for Hispanic students. This is when I really got to know Wayne.
We worked together to replace the 4 board members that were trying to
take our school district in the wrong direction! We now have a
responsible board that puts kids first. Our community recently passed a
bond issue to build a new middle school to combine all students into
one location.

[A true progressive,] Wayne has stood with
me at peace rallies. He is a firefighter, dad, husband and a
charismatic politician. He is supported by the unions and is Vice
President of his local firefighters union. He has huge support from the
educators of Marshalltown.”

Wayne
Sawtelle was also selected as one of the Top Ten candidates – that is,
those who have the best chance of being elected and helping Democrats
gain control in the Iowa legislature – by Citizen Whip.

Wayne is running against incumbent Larry McKibben.

CAMPAIGN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED MAY 15TH

Last week's doorknocking for the Sawtelle for Senate campaign was so successful that they are going to do it again this weekend.

Volunteers will meet at 10am this Saturday (the 15th) at the Marshalltown High School parking lot.

They will be going door to door in pairs, dropping off literature and telling voters about the Sawtelle for Senate campaign.
