Here's one. Why don't we have elections for police chief the way we do for sheriffs? It seems to me that in a democratic society, you know, like the kind where the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom of speech as well as the press, that police chiefs should have to bow and scrape to the public they serve every election season to keep their jobs just like county sheriffs do?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I'm right in saying that elections seem to be working rather well throughout southwest Iowa where I have personally had nothing but the most positive of dealings with . . .
