Next week the FCC will open a short application window for new Low Power FM stations and Prometheus is here to help! It’s been a decade since the last opportunity to apply for an LPFM license and another application may not open again soon, if ever.

Given the congestion of the FM dial in major cities and urban areas, most new-station opportunities will be in rural areas and smaller cities and towns in the US, and significant competition for stations in populated areas is likely.

Upcoming LPFM Application Window

The FCC’s upcoming LPFM application window is now scheduled for December 6-13.

While time is running out to get started, Prometheus is still available to help your existing local nonprofit apply for a chance to get your community’s voices on the air.

We are providing a range of support options, including engineering services, application review, and the Torchbearers Program.
