Iowans will gather Tuesday at noon outside the offices of Senator Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids to demand a fair impeachment trial of President Trump, including witnesses and evidence, which is supported by the vast majority of Americans. The Republican controlled Senate has blocked efforts to present additional documents and call witnesses in the President’s impeachment trial, despite former National Security Advisor John Bolton admitting that Trump told him directly that he was withholding military aid to pressure Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election. “Our Senators have the chance to do the right thing and hold a fair trial,” said Matt Sinovic, executive director of Progress Iowa. “Anyone with direct knowledge of what happened should testify, and the Trump administration must stop blocking evidence from coming forward. Ernst and Grassley should stop helping Trump cover up his criminal activity. Iowans and history will remember how they vote and act in this trial.”
