Sunday Funday: We Need Rain Edition

just not sure

just not sure

Holy smoke, I say, but it is dry, dry, dry around these parts. Rain dancing may be a solid profession to look at getting into in the future. I am fairly sure that you could get work today if you were a rain dancer. But the way weather has been, you would have to couple the rain dancing with a “stop-the-rain” dancing repertoire for the spring. This could almost guarantee 12 months of work someplace in this country.

Were you paying attention last week? Not sure I was. Seems like I could fall asleep on a moments notice last week. Here we go!

1) Remember all that heat we had last year? Some other country has custody of it this year. What major world city set a new record for a high daily temperature with a 105 degree day this week and had 25 days over 95 in July?

2) The Republican led House of Repesentatives did not vote to end Obamacare this week. Why?

3) The winter Olympics in Russia may be in some jeopardy due to what action by the Russian parliament?

4) Presidents Obama and Putin have called off their summit at the next G20 meeting. When and where is the next G20 meeting?

5) CEO Robert Dudley said his company will try to halt on going payments for a disaster his company was allegedly responsible for. What company is Robert Dudley the CEO of?

6) Lest we forget, August 10th was the birthday of what President?

7) This Fox News commentator and former holy person stated that Muslims “spend their day praying in Mosques then in the evening act like uncorked animals.” He could win the next Republican Iowa caucus if he tries. Who is he?

8) Memories of last year – while not as hot as last year, nearly what percent of Iowa is now in drought condition?

9) What Las Vegas mogul gave a $25 million to U of Iowa Hospitals to study the causes and cures for blindness?

10) “Meals From The Heartland” has a project at the state fair this year to produce a quarter million meals to be distributed around the world. Among places receiving meals last year was what state where nearly 400,000 meals were distributed?

11) From 1934 to 1976, this football game was held in Chicago in August to kick off the professional football season. Can you remember the name of this annual event?

12) This national organization is being investigated by the Iowa Ethics board for their part in the effort to unseat an Iowa Supreme Court Justice in 2012 for his part in the unanimous gay marriage decision of 2009. What organization?

13) The annual “party school” rankings from the Princeton Review came out this week. What is the #1 party school in the US this year?

14) What Iowa state senator has had an investigation re-opened on a charge that he took a bribe during the 2012 Iowa cuaucuses to change his support from Bachmann to Paul?

15) You have been hearing the names for weeks. Who are the two most frequently mentioned as the next head of the Federal Reserve to replace Ben Bernanke?

I fear that if we ask for rain we’ll get a deluge. How do we go about asking for just our share?
