Dear Friends,
This week we launch a new feature with Sylvia DeWitt of IAbusinessesforSALE.com.
Monday, Sylvia kicks-off the conversation about starting, nurturing and growing your own business. Peggy Patrick of bizsource.com joins us, too, discussing a February 29th seminar on starting a business. That’s right: Why work for The Man when you can work for yourself?
Also Monday, we talk about President Obama’s Iowa problem. What? You thought Iowa was solidly in the Obama camp? Think again. According to a new Iowa Poll, Obama gets beat by three out of four Republican opponents in the general election. And who beats Obama by the biggest margin? Well, the guy the pundits wrote off, of course: Congressman Ron Paul.
Tuesday, State Senator Rob Hogg (D-Cedar Rapids) discusses MidAmerican Energy’s nuclear power legislation. Hogg points out that in 2008, MidAmerican sold 38% of its energy on the open market. So, tell me again why the utility monopoly needs to saddle ratepayers with a nuclear power plant when it already produces more energy than it can use? (Thanks to Physicians for Social Responsibility for helping sponsor this show.)
Wednesday, we talk more about the growing opposition to AgriSol and Bruce Rastetter’s Tanzanian land-grab. Our guest is Adam Bolt, who produced Dan Rather’s report on AgriSol. Adam edited and co-wrote the Oscar-winning documentary “Inside Job” and teaches film editing at The Edit Center in New York City. (Thanks to Radiance Dairy and Peckumn Beef for helping sponsor this show.)
Thursday, Larry Weber with the Iowa Flood Center is our guest as we discuss the new Iowa flood sensors, Des Moines’ unique flood-risk challenge, and issues affecting other flood hot-spots across the state. Larry will also talk about the kinds of information the Iowa Flood Center provides to help elected officials, community leaders and the general public save lives and protect property.
Also Thursday, State Rep Dan Kelley (D-Newton) joins us for our weekly review of life-as-we-know-it at the Iowa State Capitol.
So, join the conversation Monday – Thursday from 7:00-8:00 pm at 98.3 FM and online. Call-in at (515) 312-0983 or toll-free at (866) 908-TALK. You can download the Fallon Forum as a podcast, too. And don’t forget to visit The Fallon Forum website at fallonforum.com. Thanks!
