This Week On The Fallon Forum

Monday – Thursday from 7:00-800 pm, join us for the fusion of politics and civility at 98.3 WOW-FM and on-line at 983wowfm.com.  Call (515) 312-0983 or (866) 908-TALK to participate in the conversation.  If you miss the show, you can hear it as a podcast and please help support local progressive talk radio with an online donation  or by check to PO Box 13421, Des Moines, IA 50310.

Dear Friends,

Naysayers continue to disparage the Occupy movement, insisting it has no clear goals and accomplishes nothing of value. Well, check out this article about saving an Iraqi War veteran’s home from foreclosure. Thanks to Occupy Atlanta, the home owner’s bank agreed to modify her loan. Occupy Des Moines is moving in a similar direction. If you know of someone at risk of foreclosure, contact me.

Monday, Charles Goldman and I discuss the Susan B. Komen – Planned Parenthood story. The matter is settled, for now, but what lessons do we take from the controversy?

Tuesday, Hector Avalos, professor of religious studies at Iowa State University, discusses his recent opinion piece, written in response to a letter writer’s insistence that the U.S. is a Christian nation.

Also on Tuesday, realtor Joe Henry talks about positive trends in the housing market, even as Occupy groups across the country take action against wrongful foreclosures. And if you’re in the market to buy or sell a home, Joe’s focus on investing in local businesses is one reason you’ll want to contact him.

Wednesday, solar physics doctor Ian O’Neill discusses solar flares and whether or not the world will end this year. (I’m betting no, and so is Ian, but after the Patriots’ Super Bowl loss on Sunday, what’s the point in living?) On a related note, we’ll also talk about what each of us can do to become better stewards of our own food. In other words, it’s time to plant seeds and order baby chickens!

Thursday, State Rep Dan Kelley (D-Newton) joins us for our weekly analysis of legislative activity at the Iowa Statehouse.

So, join the conversation Monday – Thursday from 7:00-8:00 pm at 98.3 FM and online. Call-in at (515) 312-0983 or toll-free at (866) 908-TALK.   You can download the Fallon Forum as a podcast, too.  And don’t forget to visit The Fallon Forum website at fallonforum.com.  Thanks!
