In very good news from Iowa on the health care reform front,
my hometown paper, The Quad City Times, wrote an excellent editorial on Sunday, August 16 – The case for a public
insurance option
. It is worth a read.

Also check out this editorial from Melissa Coulter, the
“Mayor” of Quadsville – Hysterics hamper discussion of health-care reform. From the Mayor’s piece I quote:

“The noise has spilled over onto www.qctimes.com and http://my.quadsville.com. In just the past
week, 12 Quadsville blog posts have been written about health care, sparking
115 comments.”

Five of those Quadsville blog posts were written by Dr Dx (and
cross posted to Blog for Iowa
every weekday afternoon). My, hasn't Dr Dx been busy! Dr Dx also highly recommends
readers of Blog for Iowa participate in democracy in online communities at their own hometown papers.

In very embarrassing news from Iowa on the health care
reform front
, Senator Chuck Grassley just can’t keep from blurting out the truth about
his agenda, at
least when he isn’t lying about health care reform “pulling the plug on
grandma” to scare Iowa’s seniors. Honestly, he has gotten on my last nerve. Do you think
if we ignore him he’ll keep himself out of the national news as the number one
obstructionist
standing between American citizens and the health care reform the vast majority
of them want?

To counteract that bitter Grassley taste, fellow Iowans, have
a sip of this, remembering that it all started here in Iowa:

Why it is embarrassing for Iowans? People lives are more important in any ways. Is it right to let the old ones to die knowing that this may not happen to them if there's just a move coming from the government giving them the Health Care they are fighting for. A lot of squawking it going to continue over the health care debate, and it appears that nothing, Reality Check testimonials from White House officials, reading the bill itself, or cheap loans, will make the conspiracy theorists pipe down.
