Dear Dean Delegates and Alternates,

As you know, the Iowa Democratic State Convention meets this week.

When:   Saturday, June 26 2004 – 8:00am-5:00pm

Where:     Polk County Convention Center

               501 Grand Ave.

               Des Moines, IA

Description:
The State Convention will be held on June 26 (which is a change from
first planned). Registration will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 25th, and
will start again at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 26th.

We'd
sure like to have all of you show up. You may have already received a
call or email message from us regarding the convention.  If not,
we'd like to know what your plans are.

Please email Molly Regan at iowavolunteer@mchsi.com
to let her know if you will be attending.  Molly is scheduling a
Dean Caucus for Friday evening, at either 8 or 9pm.  We will let
you know the details once plans are finalized.

Thank you.

It is very important that anyone who is a Dean supporter sign up as such at registration time. It doesn't matter what preference group you were at the county or district level, at the state convention you can be a delegate for Dean. We need to obtain the 15% level in order to be assured of getting a delegate to the national convention.
If we do not get 15% on the first go around, then we have to persuade people to come to our group during the first realignment period. If we still do not get the 15% after that then we will have to go to another preference group during the second realignment period. I hope it doesn't come to that.
Encourage anyone who is an alternate to come to the state convention because they will probably be able to be seated as a delegate. I expect that there won't be a full house if the district conventions are any indication.
Hats off to Molly for coordinating all of this as well as figuring out a caucus meeting time/place.
