Calling All Dean Delegates!
The DFIA Dean Delegate District Coordinators are trying to make contact with all Dean delegates and alternates to Saturday's District Conventions.
If you are a Dean delegate or alternate in District 2 or 5, please send me your contact information – full name, address, and phone number – and I will forward your information to your Coordinator.
If you are a Dean delegate or alternate in District 3 or 4, please read below for further instructions from your DFIA Dean Delegate District Coordinator.
The information provided for District 4 by Darrell Lewis applies to ALL Dean delegates and alternates (except for the location, of course.)
You can find the location of your District Convention here. Thank you.
Dear Dean District 4 Delegates and Alternates:
Congratulations on your convictions and continuing to support Gov. Howard Dean. I am the District 4 Dean Delegate Coordinator for Democracy for Iowa, which is affiliated with Gov. Dean's Democracy for America.
First, I want to encourage all of you, both delegates and alternates, to attend the District Convention in Ames on April 24. If, however, you will be unable to attend, please sign the Alternate Designation Form on the back page of your District Convention booklet (leave it attached) and give the booklet to a Dean Alternate you know who wants to attend or send it to me (signed of course) at 119 Fletcher Drive, Clear Lake, Iowa 50428. Call me if you have any questions about this at 641.357.0627.
Second, I ask each of you to look for the Dean Delegate table at the District Convention to sign in and pick up a Dean name tag. Please do this before the convention starts at 10:00 AM. This is VERY important so we can get a count of delegates to know our viability level. We have little room to spare to secure the 15% to gain one national delegate. We can use some help at the District Convention starting at 8:30 AM to set up and staff both the Dean Delegate table and the DFIA table. Please give me a call if you can help.
Third, the undecided and Gephardt delegates clearly will not be viable. Please contact any of them you know and ask them to at least register as a Dean delegate to insure our viability. The delegate handbook has a list of delegates. Also, we had some slippage at some County Conventions where Dean delegates moved to other candidates. If you know some of these people, please ask them to register as a Dean Delegate. They are free to change their preference at the time of registration.
Fourth, Democracy for Iowa (DFIA) needs coordinators in many counties. Please stop by the DFIA table at the convention to join our group and to learn about being a county coordinator. You may want to go to www.blogforiowa.com to learn more about DFIA.
Thanks in advance for all you do.
Darrell Lewis, District 4 Dean Delegate Coordinator
